Chase Your Dreams

Thanks to Lou-Anne Hunt and her marketing class at St. Clair College, their volunteer / pasta dinner event raised $5,000 for the Special Olympics! Visitors enjoyed great international pastas and had the chance to win great prizes.

Representatives from St. Clair College were on hand to announce their Adopt-An-Athlete commitments. Thanks go out to:

  • St. Clair College Alumni Association (adopting 2 athletes)
  • St. Clair Culinary Arts Team
  • St. Clair Student Representative Council
The highlight of the night was the live premier of our games song, "Chase Your Dreams". Check out Brian VanderPryt and Glen MacNeil in this great performance:

Special Olympics Founder Visits Region

Special Olympics founder Dr. Frank Hayden visited Essex County to share stories and enthusiasm about the movement that he helped create. Here, A Channel News Anchor, Jim Crichton shakes hands with Dr. Hayden after speaking with students at Maplewood Public School in Essex.

Dr. Hayden's enthusiasm is certainly infectious and as a volunteer with Special Olympics you will find that this is carried throughout everything you do from athletes to coaches to families. Now is the time for you to become involved!

Our volunteer drive will take place on Thursday, March 12th at the St. Clair College cafeteria at 6:30pm. Tickets for the meal that night are sold out but the volunteer drive is open to anyone that evening until 10:30pm. We suggest you arrive early as we will be premiering the games song LIVE that night, "Chase Your Dreams".

Representatives from the University of Windsor were on hand at the February 19th Dale Jones comedy show to present Deputy Chief Al Frederick (far right) with a cheque for $40,000.

The generosity of our community during these difficult times has been outstanding and we thank everyone for their contributions!
